The prototype of "Embedded Linux based Voice Calling Device" is designed using Raspberry Pi (Model B), PiTFT (2.8" resistive), GSM Modem (SIM 900A) and python based programming for voice calling purpose. At the core of this prototype, Embedded Linux kernel image have been implemented, which is developed and customized using Yocto Project which is used to achieve reduced memory footprint (both at kernel and package level) and to add selective features as per need. Bitbake (command line interface) and hob (GUI based inteface) are two available ways to customize Linux packages in Yocto project to build optimum sized Image with preferred features. This prototype was successfully tested for voice transmission using ssh.
