? 2022 Elsevier B.V.Calcium borosilicates are bioactive materials. This work synthesized a novel Ca11B2Si4O22 powder by a sol-gel method. Besides, Ca11B2Si4O22 ceramic was prepared via the dry-pressure molding and high temperature sintering. XRD analysis results revealed that the high-purity Ca11B2Si4O22 crystalline powder was successfully prepared. Meanwhile, the compressive strength of the Ca11B2Si4O22 ceramic reached to 290 MPa. More interestingly, the Ca11B2Si4O22 ceramic exhibited excellent apatite-forming ability in simulated body fluid and osteogenic activity in vitro. These results indicated that the novel Ca11B2Si4O22 ceramic holds great potential for load-bearing bone repair.
