The fine red colouring of the porphyry cobblestones gives the town centre of Brixen a very special atmosphere, and the architects from the office of Carlana Mezzalira Pentimalli have applied this to their new municipal music school. Located just a few minutes by foot from the historic centre, this building is intended to form the centre of a new urban district. It is to become an important urban hinge between the old town and the new one, whereby the morphology of the historical structure - for instance the archetype of the town wall - is confidently developed further conceptually. There is already a large climbing hall and a public swimming pool - in the future the motor cars that used to determine the ambiance are to disappear to two levels built beneath a park to the north of new building, or under the new "Piazza Priel" to the south.
