SUPERMAJORS Shell and Chevron have hit the market with pre-qualification requests for a major drilling services contract and seismic work in Nigeria that could run for up to five years and three years, respectively. Anglo-Dutch giant Shell's planned tender covers the provision of completion equipment and other services for wells on the supermajor's deep-water Bonga field in oil mining licence 118. The completion equipment is needed on oil production and water injector wells at the Bonga field and potentially its subsea satellites. Initial responses were submitted late last week for a three-year contract due to start in the fourth quarter of this year. However, the contract will also include a pair of one-year extension options that could see the work continuing until late 2026.
