US services giant Fluor has been awarded a full notice-to-proceed contract from US liquefied natural gas exporter New Fortress Energy for the engineering, procurement and fabrication management of a second Fast LNG export terminal. The project is scheduled to be a 1.4 million tonnes per annum LNG gas treating and liquefaction plant built offshore. As with Fast LNG 1, the facility will be placed on fixed offshore platforms. Fluor is already serving as the primary contractor for Fast LNG 1, which will be located in federal waters in the US Gulf of Mexico, about 16 miles (26 kilometres) off the coast of Grand Isle, Louisiana, in a water depth of about 30 metres. The project is scheduled to come online in the first quarter of next year.
