Living in the village of Driffield as a child my bedroom window looked out on to the East Yorkshire buses operating its flagship route from Hull through to Scarborough via Beverley Bar. My fascination was for the occasional Utility Guy as shown by Mike Fenton (Buses February) which appeared on holiday weekends. However, my excitement increased in 1952 when 16 striking double deck coaches (MKH77-92) appeared in a new predominantly primrose and pale blue livery. Although Roe-bodied Leyland PD2s like the preceding batch (LAT55-78) I was familiar with, they had full fronts, only 50 seats, luggage racks and platform doors, but were downgraded and reseated after a few years. Coach MKH84 was photographed at Beverley Bus Station in 1964 parked beside repainted MKH89, which contrasts with standard LAT76 parked at Scarborough in 1962.
