Romanian Alro boosts aluminium recycling

Romanian aluminium producer Alro has announced an $11mn investment in its recycling facility in Slatina, Romania, that will raise recycling capacity at the plant by 60,000 t/yr. The investment covers two double-chamber furnaces, one holding furnace and a dedicated fume collection and treatment plant, Alro said. The investment is aimed at providing more molten aluminium for the company’s casting operations, after its production from primary sources was cut back last year owing to spiking energy prices in Europe.
