Revised standards for the Safe Effective Quality Occupational Health Service (SEQOHS) accreditation scheme have been launched by the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FOM).They come into effect on 1 November 2023, replacing the current standards, which were last updated in 2015. There will be a transition period (the length of which is still to be determined) for organisations currently accredited with the 2015 standards to comply with the new standards. The revised standards were approved by the FOM following a formal consultation on draft standards, which closed on 25 November 2022. Dr Robin Cordell, who led the SEOOHS standards review, said the standards would 'further enhance the reputation of SEOOHS as the industry standard for OH services'. SEOOHS was established in 2010 following a recommendation in Dame Carol Black's 2008 review of the health of Britain's working-age population, which called for'clear standards of practice and formal accreditation of all providers'2. SEOOHS was designed to: provide quality standards to which OH services could aspire; accredit services that met the standards; and help organisations wishing to commission OH services to differentiate between providers that met the standards from those that did not.
