Toray to sell polyamide products based on recycled fishing nets

Polyamide (PA) 6 recovered from discarded fishing nets using a chemical process by Refineverse Group Inc is to be converted into fibres, yarns and textiles by Toray. Toray, of Tokyo, Japan, plans to manufacture 400 t of the products each year and will start selling them in March 2023, primarily for use in the manufacture of sports and outdoor wear, underwear and legwear. It anticipates that the products will generate ￥1.2 billion in sales by March 2025.
