Indian planning body NITI Aayog has proposed a carbon capture, use and storage policy involving clusters, a business model and financial incentives to help its adoption on a commercial scale, with the potential for India to reach 750 million mt/year of CCUS capacity by 2050. India, the world’s third largest emitter of CO2, has a target to cut CO2 emissions by 50 by 2050 and achieve net-zero by 2070, and therefore has a long-term need for decarbonizing solutions, it said.
