This article can be considered an addendum to my article that appeared in the May June 2014 issue of Fruit Gardener, titled “Too Much Fruit? Never.” This one is meant to flesh out the fruit-processing routes I described earlier for home growers. I’m always looking for efficient and tasty uses of the fruits that bear unusually well in a given year or always bear heavily. The crops of crfg members usually involve performing considerable cognitive and physical work to get them, so they are precious and shouldn’t be wasted. Of course, I also prefer that, if possible, the fruit product be in a form that stores well and compactly, so that I have “nuts for the winter.” Sorbets also last for years in a freezer with minimal, if any, loss of flavor.
