Marie Mayor Don Gerrie cut the ribbon to open the Coast Guard's new Great Lakes Oil Spill Center of Expertise on August 24,2022. Headquartered at Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, with an office in Ann Arbor, the center will research freshwater oil spills and help develop effective responses.
