They say that, as you get older, time speeds up. I can certainly testify to that, from a personal point of view. My youngest child recently turned one, and we have been looking at primary schools for my oldest - my wife wasn't even pregnant when I became editor of this fine publication. Where has the time gone? This year has certainly flown by and it has been another busy one for construction. While the industry hasn't escaped the pandemic completely unscathed, demand has been high. Many companies saw record profits and OEMs have been reporting that order books for 2022 are, in many cases, close to full. There has been a plethora of online, virtual press conferences and product launches this year and we also had the return of in-person shows, with events such as World of Concrete, MINExpo and Bauma China going ahead. It will be interesting to see how the balance of virtual and in-person shows and events evolves in the future.
