At present, due to the increase and significantcomplication of the electric power system (EPS), the task ofmaintaining the stability of the EPS is becoming increasinglyimportant. Due to the fact that, in case of significantdisturbances in the EPS, the processes occurring can leadto large synchronous swings of the generating equipmentor loss of stability. When disconnecting the intersystemcommunication or a powerful load in the excess part of theEPS, an emergency excess of generated active power occurs,as a result, the frequency begins to increase, and theload-frequency control system is not able to cope with suchan accident, due to its slowness. In this case, it is necessaryto use the means of emergency automation to eliminate thesurplus of active power. One of the most effective methodsis fast valving automation. However, its effectivenessdirectly depends on the quality of its setting - which is arather difficult task, since for its implementation, a completemathematical model of the turbo-generator isrequired, taking into account its control systems and boilerunit.
