Belmont's SY Series High-Speed CNC EDM Drills are a proven line of customizable small hole drills. The SY-4060, which will be featured at IMTS 2022, has a maximum workpiece weight of 1,750 lbs. The X, Y, and W travels are 23.6" × 15.7" × 13.5", with a maximum open height of 14.1". During IMTS this machine will be demonstrating unattended operation and automation. Our SY EDM Drill will be equipped with our new Automatic Tool Bank which holds 60 electrodes, and 30 guides to maximize unattended operation. The Drill will keep track of each electrode, and when an electrode is spent, the machine automatically loads the next one and continues the programmed operation. The LCD display attached to the Automatic Electrode Changer will show the status of each electrode holder. To increase productivity, our Drill will be operating alongside a Fanuc Collaborative Robot (Cobot). The Cobot will pick from a mixture of parts in a random tray, present the part to a camera to determine which part will be loaded into the SY EDM Drill, and the part program that matches the part will then be selected and run automatically. Once the part is complete, the Cobot will place the completed part in a select tray.
