Do we need to be going through our hives every week from April until the end of July? Does it matter that a few swarms get away from us and maybe start a wild colony? If we could guarantee the call of the wild and a gnarled old oak, all would be welland of course, if you want a honey crop there is the problem of losing a good proportion of your nectar gathering work force. Unfortunately, they do have a habit of heading for a thatched roof or every swarm gatherer’s nightmare, down a chimney.
