The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission set a proposal from a Southern Company subsidiary to raise wholesale rates for a hearing and settlement judge procedures, finding in an initial analysis that the roughly $23 million rate increase had not been shown to be just and reasonable. In July, Southern subsidiary Mississippi Power — which works in power generation, transmission, distribution and sales in southeastern Mississippi — proposed revisions to its wholesale electric service for wholesale customers’ rate schedule, which would increase rates for service.
