Royal Dutch Shell and Norsk Hydro (aluminium producer) have announced that they both want to produce hydrogen from renewable electricity to decarbonise their own operations and supply green hydrogen to heavy industries and transport customers. Both companies recently have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and have started to identify pathways to produce and supply renewable hydrogen. Shell and Hydro will also determine which European locations are best suited to produce renewable hydrogen. "We are looking at potential locations where we both have operations and we have potential to use hydrogen in our existing facilities," Per Christian Eriksen, head of Hydro Havrand, told Reuters.
