This paper is devoted to improving the strength of a color image encryption algorithm by using controlled hyperchaotic mapping. A method is developed that makes it possible to change the spectrum of Lyapunov exponents and increase the randomness of a nonlinear system by increasing its entropy and the value of the senior positive Lyapunov exponent. Feedback that enables the formation of the spectrum of the hyperchaotic system with the positive exponent is synthesized using the modal control method with the Sylvester algebraic equation. For the controlled nonlinear system, the criteria of the algorithm's strength against statistical and differential attacks are defined, which allows us to improve the robustness of the algorithm with feedback.
