Balarampur Chini Mills unit- Kumbhi is 8000TCD sugar unit located near Gola Gokarnnath of Lakhimpur-Khari District. Balarampur Chini Mills limited is one of the leading Sugar and Ethanol producing groups operating in Uttar Pradesh and our senior management is very much committed to maintain the natural resources in its original state to best of our endeavour. Since the cane itself contains around 70 of water and sugar industry is a water surplus industry hence despite of compliance with all statutory requirements regarding water management BCML management was in a view that the sugar plants should not extract ground water and as a part of our commitment to achieve ZERO Fresh water consumption in Cogeneration sugar plants, BCML management decided to take initiatives in Babhnan and Kumbhi units and projects for installation of two stage CPU including both biological and UF/RO treatment. Projects were implemented successfully at both Babhnan and Kumbhi units and we have achieved Zero freshwater extraction for industrial purpose at these units. This paper presents about the ZFC implementation at Kumbhi unit.
