If plant-based milk is the big success story of plant-based dairy, the same cannot be said of plant-based yogurts. In many markets, growth has slowed dramatically, and the category looks like settling down as a much smaller niche than plant milks. Most plant yogurt makers struggle to make a profit. And already one CEO has lost his job due to plant-based under-performance. Data on the US plant-based yogurt market has been released by the Good Food Institute, a public relations organisation for investors in plant-based meat and dairy substitutes but using SPINS/ IRI supermarket sales data and therefore credible. It shows that growth in the key US market has slowed dramatically.
