摘要

Objective. - The plasma concentration of retinol-binding protein-4 is higher in older women than younger women. This study determined the effect of concurrent exercise on the serum concentration of retinol-binding protein-4 and postmenopausal women's insulin resistance. Material methods. - Based on an In-silico study and bioinformatic analysis, 31 genes are overlapped between Cardiovascular diseases, Diabetes, Hypertension, and Obesity. Enrichment and data mining performed in STRING, KEGG, Reactome, DAVID, and BIOGRID. Finally, interactions between hub genes, pathways, and disease designed with Cytoscape software. Moreover, Twenty healthy, physically inactive postmenopausal women with an average age of 65.45 +/- 2.52 years old and weight of 82.83 +/- 11.98 Kg were selected in a targeted manner to participate and were divided into two Treated (n = 10) and control (n = 10) groups randomly. Physical composition, serum glucose level, serum insulin, and retinol-binding protein-4 were measured in both groups before and after the intervention. The experimental group participated in 12 weeks of combinatory exercise. Results. - Data mining illustrated RBP4 involved in lipid metabolisms, inflammation pathway, Cytokine Signaling in Immune system, Retinoid metabolism disease, Retinoid Metabolism, and Transport. We found that Combinatory exercises significantly reduced plasma retinol-binding protein4, glucose, insulin, insulin resistance. Conclusion. - We analyzed data collected from the bioinformatics database and indicated that RBP4 increased via up-regulation of lipogenesis and overexpressed adipokines in obesity and inactivity conditions. We predicted that physical activity via increasing beta-oxidation of free fatty acid and lipolysis affects RBP4, glucose, and insulin production modulation. Combinatory exercises caused a reduction in body composition and resistance to insulin and reduced the retinol-binding protein-4 level. (c) 2022 Elsevier Masson SAS. All rights reserved.
