A Russian Air Force Ka-52 was shot down on April 5 by the Ukraine Army's 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade near Berestoye in the Bakhmut region of Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine, using a Piorun MANPADS. A Japan Ground Self-Defense Force UH-60JA took off from Miyako-Hirara Airport on April 6 with ten personnel on board but disappeared off radar over the sea 11 miles (18km) northwest of the airport just ten minutes later. Search operations later found some floating debris. It was operated by the 8th Aviation Wing, 8th Rapid Deployment Division.
