2022 INTERNATIONAL COASTAL ENGINEERING AWARD given to Jane McKee Smith, Ph.D., P.E., D.CE, NAE, Dist.M.ASCE, for an outstanding career in coastal engineering research that is crucial for understanding hurricanes and storm surge and for leadership in making coastal communities around the world safer. 2023 KARL TERZAGHI AWARD given to Ning Lu, Ph.D., F.EMI, F.ASCE, for seminal contributions to the understanding of the fundamental mechanisms governing the behavior of unsaturated soils and their implications in slope stability and other geotechnical problems. 2024 KARL TERZAGHI LECTURE given to Andrew J. Whittle, Sc.D., P.E., P.Eng, NAE, M.ASCE, for groundbreaking contributions to the formulation of constitutive models that represent the complex mechanical properties of soils and their application in predicting the performance of foundations and underground construction projects.
