Japan's Ebara Corp has secured a contract to replace and upgrade the company's pumps installed at the Zai Water Supply System in Jordan. A project to improve the 30-year-old facility, which supplies water to Jordan's capital Amman, involves three water intake pumps, 12 raw water pumps and three transmission pumps. There is a difference in elevation of more than 1260 m between Amman and the water source in Jordan Valley. Ebara says that the main challenge is to provide a stable water supply while achieving enhanced operation with maximised cost/energy effectiveness.
