China will now allow all domestic companies to import coal from Australia thus ending trade restrictions that began in 2020. The restrictions were partially eased in January this year when four major state backed importers were granted permission to recommence purchases of Australian coal. SP Global reported in February that 1.4 million tonnes of coal was loaded from Australia for China in about 14 shipments as the restrictions began to ease.
