What goes up must come down. For the kitchen textiles and table linens segments of the home textiles industry, those words sum up business over the past 18 months. The up was in 2021 - a year of sky-high sales trends driven by strong consumer demand for both category segments. Each posted an 8 hike: table linens to $1.53 billion from $1.4 billion; kitchen textiles to $1.3 billion versus $1.2 billion.Combined, retail sales came to $2.82 billion compared to the prior year's $2.61 billion."2021 was excellent. It was a high watermark year" for Town and Country Living, said Judi Alvarez, the company's VP of licensing and marketing. "Despite supply chain challenges and the higher cost of freight, we really enjoyed great top-line sales in kitchen and table. Profitability was challenging, but consumer demand reached a new level."
