The Serpentine Jarrahdale Mens Shed was founded in 2012 by a handful of dedicated men (and women) in Jarrahdale, Western Australia. The group commenced operations in an old dairy shed, led by Brian Phillips, a master craftsman and boat builder. Brianhad big visions for the Shed, but unfortunately shortly after commencement he suffered a devastating stroke which left him partly paralysed. It was then that Ray Schmidt, the Shed's current secretary, took over and tried to bring Brian's plan to fruition. The Council of the Serpentine-Jarrahdale Shire had granted the Shed a parcel of land near the old timber mill in Jarrahdale, but development costs were prohibitive for a small handful of men. The Shed relinquished the lease on the land and moved into what was once the old scout hall in Mundijong.
