Australian smart technology that harvests blast furnace waste and converts it into a product to make cement is undergoing commercialisation trials in China where 60% of iron waste is produced. The Dry Slag Granulation (DSG) process is the focus of an agreement signed by CSIRO and the Beijing MCC Equipment Research & Design Corporation (MCCE), to demonstrate the technology at industrial scale. The agreement is a landmark for Australia-China research collaboration, according to Jonathan Law, Director of the CSIRO Mineral Resources Flagship.
