You can hear Jenny Stokes' garden before you see it. From behind a high gate on the suburban pavement comes the sound of cascading water. Any concerns about a burst water main are allayed as the gate glides open to reveal a waterfall spilling into a bridged reflection pool leading to the house.Water is the pervading element in the Christchurch property. A rill runs through the length of the house on one side while a long swimming pool dominates the other. But the jewel in the crown sparkles at the bottom of the garden where the Wairarapa Stream takes a lazy turn, creating a long angled bank and outlook down, rather than across, the water.
