UK and US firsts for Velis Electro

The first UK-based example of the Pipistrel SW128 Velis Electro, G-OGRN (c/n VSW1280010), was shown off by UK distributor Fly About Aviation at the Microlight Trade Fair at Popham, Hampshire, on August 14.The Velis - the first type-certificated electric aircraft in the world - is based on the SW121 Virus and is powered by a 57.6kW Pipistrel E811 electric motor driving a three-bladed, fixed-pitch propeller.
