Nonresidential construction in the United States is expected to increase in 2022, but only after a continued decline throughout 2021, according to the American Institute of Architects (AIA). In their mid-year Consensus Construction Forecast, issued in late July 2021, the group forecasts that nonresidential construction spending will decline an additional 3.9 this year, following a 2 decline in 2020. Growth will return, according to the release, in 2022 when forecasters expect a 4.6 increase.
