Construction posted strong employment numbers in November, adding 20,000 jobs and improving its unemployment rate, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Dec. 2. Construction gained jobs in every industry segment except residential construction, which lost 2,600 positions, BLS said. Non-residential building added 8,200 jobs; heavy and civil engineering construction gained 5,300; and residential specialty trade contractors reported an increase of 6,500 positions. Year-over-year, the industry workforce grew in November by 248,000, or 3.3, to 7.75 million, bureau figures show. The Associated General Contractors of America said that is an industry record.
