摘要

Always looking for topics to write about in this column, I was surfing through some streaming sites for documentaries that could provide some ideas on safety in general and hopefully be applicable to electrical safety. I came across an excellent series, What Went Wrong: Countdown to Catastrophe, 1 with six episodes that each thoroughly report on a high-impact event and provide some learnings. The first episode, “Morandi Bridge Disaster,” caught my attention, and watching the show I realized that the learnings from this bridge-failure incident can be applied to industrial electrical safety. My takeaway from the show was that delayed maintenance contributed significantly to the incident, although, of course, there were many other factors that also contributed.
