摘要

In this study, low-cost adsorbent was easily prepared from Ficus lyrata seed (FS) or lignocellulosic waste, and utilized for the efficient removals of iodine and reactive dye molecules. The lignocellulosic powder was easily treated using acid-base chemicals such as HNO3 and KOH. The surface areas, porosities and morphologies of as-prepared adsorbent were analyzed by methylene blue adsorption method along with Langmuir calculation model. As obtained, rapid/multilayer-physisorption behaviors were interestingly found via Freundlich, Dubinin-Radushkevich, Temkin, pseudo-second-order and Weber-Morris models. The maximum capacities for iodine and reactive blue 19 molecules were found to be 340.00 (FS-Untreated) and 13.08 (FS-Treated by HNO3) mg/g, respectively. The highest percentage removals of selected reactive dyes from synthetic wastewater using FS-Treated by HNO3 were 58.30, 31.47 and 18.91 for reactive blue 19, reactive yellow 3 and reactive red 22, respectively, while 87.30 of iodine was removed using FS-Untreated. The endothermic and spontaneous adsorption of iodine and selected reactive dye molecules were verified under thermodynamic process. This research systematically studied on adsorption behaviors of iodine and reactive dye molecules, and provided high possibility to be truly applied in practical process for wastewater treatment.
