TO the Editor—We read with interest the article by Teshale et al regarding hepatitis C virus (HCV) treatment characteristics from 2014 through 2020. The authors concluded that HCV treatment rates increased annually among patients who have Medicaid, received treatment from primary care providers, and were aged <40 years. However, the authors demonstrated a substantial decline in the number of persons treated from 2019 to 2020, likely associated with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. We aimed to analyze similar data before and during the COVID-19 pandemic through late 2022 for Los Angeles County.
