A circular birefringent chiral atomic medium is used for the modification of left and right circularly polarized (LCP/RCP) beams of light. Maximum group velocities of the LCP/RCP modes are reported to v(g)((+/-)) = +/- c/40000 and delays/advance time are reported to tau((+/-))(d) = +/- 0.1 mu s in the medium. The LCP/RCP beams show strong distortion behavior with the phases of control fields and superpositions states coefficients. The total 100 input intensity is distributed in LCP/RCP beams. The output intensity of the LCP beam is 20 and that of the RCP beam is also 20 while the remaining 60 intensity is lost in the medium due to phase and amplitude distortions of the LCP/RCP beams at 10 cm length of the medium. These results may show potential applications in photo cells devices.
