We've made it through August, and the state of Texas is still immersed in a terrible drought. Typically, the quickest way out of such a situation is to talk about it, but we have been talking about it for months, and little has happened Perhaps by thetime you read this, the situation will have changed. Maybe. Hopefully. We all know things can change and will change at the drop of a hat! At the Texas Pecan Growersmeeting in mid-July, the cenizo, or Texas Sage, were in full floral display in San Marcos, and of course, some folks swear that when those plants bloom, there will be rain in 3 to 5 days. Still, it seems more often than not, they bloom after the fact. But I must admit, when I see these plants start to bloom, there is that part of me that hopes they are indeed right! Actually, when this bloom occurred in San Marcos, there was a bit ofrain, but not near what was needed to quench the drought.
