Loryma's ingredient portfolio includes two wheat starches that can be used to replace the white pigment, titanium dioxide (E171) in foods. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) no longer considers titanium dioxide to be safe, and the pigment will not be allowed for use in food products beginning in 2022, according to EU regulations. The company's small-grain starch, named Lory Starch Iris, is a native wheat starch with small, uniform particles (<10μm). Due to its small particle size, the starch can attach homogenously to surfaces, and is suitable for lightening dry or cold applications such as chocolate lentils and chewing gum.
