For the last several years, the State of Indiana Cooperative Invasives Management (SICIM) has led the Indiana Invasives Initiative (III) through a contribution agreement with the USDA-NRCS. Both SICIM and the NRCS have been working for many years to combat invasive plants and raise public awareness of the devastation being caused by them, and both groups have come to the realization that we will not begin to make much headway until the problem is addressed at the local level by local people using local resources. This initiative has paved the way for communities and organizations to manage invasive species on the local level throughout the state, as well as help individual landowners by providing invasive plant surveys, management plans, and technical assistance.
