摘要

A tenthredinid sawfly, Harpiphorus lepidus orientalis Shinohara, n. subsp. is described from Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu) and South Korea. This is the first record of the genus from Japan.Harpiphorus lepidus (Klug,1818) is a small lovely tenthredinid sawfly previously known to occur in Europe, Morocco and South Korea (Park Lee, 2018). It belongs to the monotypic genus Harpiphorus Hartig, 1837,of the subfamily Allantinae (Taeger et al., 2018),and the larvae feed on Quercus (Lorenz Kraus, 1957). We have recently studied two specimens of this species from Japan, one from Sapporo, Hokkaido, and another from Tochigi prefecture, Honshu. Because of its characteristic features, the adultof this species can be easily recognized even by the pictures taken alive in the field. On the internet, we have noticed the pictures of the adults of this species taken in Sapporo, Hokkaido, on June 4, 2009 (Anonymous, 2021a), in Serigaya,Yokohama, Kanagawa prefecture, on April 20, 2013 (Anonymous, 2021b), and in Mitabora,Gifu, Gifu prefecture, on April 20, 2018 (Anonymous, 2021c).
