摘要

Improving the removal efficiency of organic matter and nitrogen from constructed wetland (CW) is very important in today's world. In this study a novel approach of intermittent aeration is used to treat the domestic wastewater. Three identical models of aerated constructed wetland (ACW) planted with Typha sp, are used in this work and each reactor was provided with three different filter media packing namely increased size filter (ISF), decreased size filter (DSF) and uniformed size filter (USF) media packing. Treatment was performed in three different aeration time (AT) 1 hr./day, 2 hrs./day and 3 hrs./day. The aeration output capacity of 1.75 L/min was provided in all ACWs. The results indicates that the maximum removal of BOD_5 (94.15), COD (92.50), NH_4-N (96.61), TN (79.87) for AT 2 hrs./ day of treatment through USF media packing. The results suggests that the ACW model is effective in removal of organic matter and nutrients provided with USF media packing size of 4-5 mm (Φ- effective diameter).
