摘要

The pseudo-shakedown phenomenon for rectangular plates subjected to repeated impacts is studied using a numerical simulation method. The wide applicability of the finite element modelling techniques for repeated impacts is validated against reported experimental results on different structural components. The dynamic response of the plates, such as the plate displace-ment, impact force, indenter velocity, and absorbed energy, among other parameters, are pre-sented in detail and analysed. The analysis provides a deep insight into the pseudo-shakedown behaviour of elastoplastic plates under repeated impacts. A criterion based on the critical displacement is drawn for the pseudo-shakedown occurrence. The concept of two displacements, i.e. 'necking displacement' and 'failure displacement' is proposed, from which some mechanical characteristics of structures under low velocity repeated impacts are revealed and clarified. The proposed two displacements are useful tools to estimate the occurrence of pseudo-shakedown and structural failure.
