On Feb. 20, the Mexican government ratified a rule put forth by Mexico's Environment Ministry that requires all bus and truck makers in the country to manufacture and sell only vehicles running on ULSD beginning next Jan. in an attempt to improve air quality in the country. The move comes despite criticism from the Mexican bus and trucking industries, who argue that ULSD is not available nationwide, making this mandate impossible to meet. The Mexican government said that the domestic availability of USLD was at around 86 when combining domestic output with imports, but trade association Anpact estimated that as of the middle of last year, ULSD was only available at 75 of Mexican retail stations.
