After a quarter of a century in California as YO-HO-HO under her first owner and then a dozen years in Caribbean waters with her second one, who renamed her RUNAWAY, this spacious ketch-rigged motorsailer has languished ashore since 1999. She's been worked on from time to time but, not surprisingly, hasn't fared well despite being under cover and even enjoying periods of inside storage. She has an exceptional pedigree, since her design came from the well-respected firm of John G. Alden in Boston, Massachusetts, and she was capably built by a California yard with an impeccable reputation: W.F. Stone Son (see WB No. 109) in San Francisco. Ken Jack, her second owner, died in 2021 without coming close to realizing his dream of restoring the boat. Thus, she is being offered for free as a "project boat," providing that an interested party presents a viable plan for restoration.
