US natural gas consumption for electricity generation willreach the second-highest level on record this summer, the USEnergy Information Administration said May 9, as it raised gasdemand estimates for the second and third quarters of 2023.“High natural gas-fired electric power generation this summeris driven by a decline in coal-fired electricity generation, relativelylow natural gas prices, and more overall electricity generationdue to warmer-than-normal temperatures in our forecast,” theEIA said in its May Short-Term Energy Outlook.
