? 2022 Elsevier B.V.Permanent magnet synchronous generators (PMSGs) are widely connected to the power system, and their stability analysis has received extensive attention. Conventional damping torque analysis (DTA) is a well-known and valid method to analyze the low-frequency oscillations and DC voltage oscillations. This paper expands the DTA for investigating the DC-bus voltage stability of PMSG. Firstly, the linearized model of PMSG is established, based on the spatial vector and complex transfer function. Secondly, damping characteristic analysis of the DC capacitance dynamic equation is studied by DTA, and the concept of damping coefficient is developed to evaluate the stability of DC-bus voltage. Then, the effect of grid-side controller (GSC) parameters of PMSG on the equivalent damping is analyzed and investigated by time domain simulation in DIgSILENT/PowerFactory. Finally, a parameter optimization strategy based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) is proposed and the effectiveness of this strategy is verified.
