In the world sugar market there is higher demand for Sulphur less sugar in the form of Raw and Refined sugar over plantation white sugar. The percentage of demand for Raw Sugar: Refined Sugar: Plantation white sugar is 55∶35∶10 at global level. In case of India, the percentage of raw sugar to total exported quantity of sugar is around 70. The major reason for lower demand of PWS in international market is due to presence of Sulphur content in the from SO_2 to the tune of 10 to 30 PPM. Raw sugars have more nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants when compared to refined sugars. However self-life of raw sugar is less as compared to plantation white sugar refined sugar. The following are the major advantages of production of raw sugar.
