Incat Tasmania has delivered its second 111-m catamaran to Naviera Armas. Volcan de Taidia is operating in Spanish waters alongside sister vessel Volcdn de Tagoro, which was delivered by Incat in 2019, between Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Incat Tasmania chairman Robert Clifford tells PST, 'The ship is very suitable for the exposed route as it is an evolution of past vessels. The engines are the most efficient MAN diesels and this, coupled with the low weight of the ship, makes for good transport efficiency. It is considerably better than the older ships that have served this route in the past.' The company has an extensive fleet of vessels, and Volcan de Taidia is the sixth Incat-built vessel operating in the fleet. It is also the second Naviera Armas newbuild direct from Incat Tasmania, having obtained other Incat-built vessels on the secondhand market, explains Naviera Armas owner Antonio Armas senior.
