A Missouri federal judge prematurely issued a preliminary injunction in a patent infringement dispute involving technology that enables hot and cold foods to be served next to each other in a buffet, the top patent appeals court has ruled. In a Dec. 28 opinion, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit said the lower court improperly dismissed arguments by food service equipment supplier Duke Manufacturing Co. that Low Temp Industries Inc.'s patents for the technology were invalid.
